An assistant that prepares the work and waits for your yes

My own voice assistant: a dark screen I talk to, with my notes as its memory.

Status: Personal tool, I use it every day. Built for my own work.

Example: I ask out loud to reply to a client. The assistant writes the draft with the quote attached and sends it only after my yes.

Example with made-up data.

The problem

A voice assistant that knows your notes saves you searching and typing. To do that, it has to read private material and act in other apps. That only works if you know what it may do alone and what it must ask you first.

What it does now

I talk to it, and it shows its work on a dark screen with an animated centre and panels around it, among them my tasks, a log of what it is doing and the audio. It keeps one conversation going through the day, with my notes as its memory. It searches and reads my notes and writes new ones on its own. Before it sends or changes anything in another app, it shows the request on screen and waits for my answer.

How it works

The conversation runs on Claude with my personal account, which is why it is a tool for me alone: a version for other people would need to be built separately. The assistant also has its own tools for notes, tasks, memory, music and the screen. Actions that only read go ahead on their own; anything that sends or changes something waits until I say yes. The assistant runs on my computer, and nothing outside can connect to it.

What held

  • It asks before it sends or changes anything in another app, and no answer means no.
  • Notes, web pages and emails are material to read, not instructions to follow.
  • It never deletes or rewrites a note I already have.

All examples

Tell me what you do. I’ll tell you what I can build.

A phone call or a message is enough. I’ll tell you whether you need a website, a tool or nothing at all, and the quote follows, in writing. By email I reply within 2 working days, in English or Italian.
